PITTS-ALDRICH EXPANDS NONPROFIT CONSULTING SERVICES

GROSSE POINTE WOODS, Mich. (Nov. 25, 2008)  The management and organization development consulting firm of Pitts-Aldrich Associates (PAA) has expanded its team of consultants to enhance services to nonprofit organizations, according to Partner Lynne Aldrich.

“The economy is the worst it has been in 60 years, creating tremendous stress for nonprofits,” Aldrich said.  “They’re losing funding from all sources – government, foundations, corporations and individuals and being asked to do even more.  They must sort through painful alternatives:  Trying to get a bigger piece of a shrinking financial pie, reducing services, increasing efficiency, collaborating or merging with other organizations or even going out of business.   An objective third party often is their best solution, and our team brings experience and wisdom in all facets of nonprofit management.”

Four consultants have recently affiliated with Pitts-Aldrich to focus solely on nonprofit organizations.

Sharlan Douglas, APR, of Douglas Communications Group helps organizations redefine or better articulate their identity and purpose and creates the communications tools they need to motivate and mobilize their internal and external publics. Douglas was the founding executive director of the Eight Mile Boulevard Association and headed a chamber of commerce after seven years in Detroit area public relations firms.  She is a member of the Michigan Association of Planning, the Michigan Society of Association Executives and the Urban Land Institute, She received her BA in journalism from Michigan State University and lives in Royal Oak.

Richard Gibson, PhD, is an executive coach with a doctorate in education from the University of Maryland and a broad background in business, nonprofit and association management. He helps nonprofits plan strategically, develop their boards, improve staff performance, collaborate and plan.   He guides organizations through change – cultural, structural, systemic, leadership and downsizing. He lives in Grosse Pointe Park.

Steve Horn excels in quickly assessing the inner workings of an organization to identify areas for improvement.  He served as chief operating officer of the Detroit Zoological Society and the Michigan Human Society and as executive director of Leadership Detroit.  During 30 years at IBM, he disseminated millions of corporate dollars to nonprofits and served on many boards of directors, chairing those of the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs, Mosaic Youth Theatre and Affirmations Gay and Lesbian Center.  He lives in Beverly Hills and attended the University of Wisconsin.

Michael Wild helps organizations identify and solicit fundraising prospects.  He directed AAA Michigan’s public and community relations programs and chaired the corporate contributions committee. As manager of corporate and foundation relations for Focus: HOPE, Wild played a lead role in the development and implementation of a major fundraising effort on behalf of this major Detroit human and civil rights organization. He graduated from Wayne State University and lives in Harper Woods.

Pitts-Aldrich Associates, established in 1990, assumes that business and organizations change and grow from within, by the will of their founders, boards, leaders, employees and volunteers.  PAA matches consultants to clients’ goals to help them plan, govern, improve operating performance, increase profitability and reserves, develop and retain staff, diversify and raise funds.

Founder and Partner Christina Pitts said, “Our vision at PAA is A Legacy of Exceptional Contribution. From the outset, we at PAA pledged to serve our communities by dedicating at least 50 percent of our efforts to nonprofit organizations. By helping nonprofits, through expert consulting, to deliver on their missions to improve the human/natural condition, PAA serves society, humanity and nature.”
