Royal Oak Chamber of Commerce — Until 2006, few outside the leadership and members of the Royal Oak Chamber of Commerce knew of the chamber’s steady growth, and how valuable its networking events had become. DCG’s steady public relations campaign increased newspaper coverage by 20 percent and made sure routine monthly events were regularly listed in business publications, along with post-event photographs. Attendance at the chamber’s morning coffees increased 21 percent and at the Business Women’s Network lunches almost doubled.
One of our greatest successes for the chamber has been with Sunday morning local news shows, when reporters for both WJBK TV and WXYZ TV do live cut-ins from the field. They need a base of operations that will generate between three and six interviews. For 2007’s Clay & Glass festival, we lined up artists willing to do demonstrations and interviews as early as 7 a.m. on Sunday and served as WJBK’s field producer that morning. With that track record, we have attracted morning reporters four times since then:
2008 – WJBK at Antique & Garage Sale. (Reporter taped interviews on Saturday for use on Sunday)
2009 – WXYZ and WJBK at both Royal Oak in Bloom and Clay, Glass & Metal Show
2010 — WXYZ at the Clay, Glass & Metal Show
